I took the folding bike in the car to the Dial Range and Ferndene Reserve to explore. There are old mines along the Ferndene Reserve track, which require a torch. This track contines to Mount Dial and the Gnomon (the more western route of the Penguin Cradle Trail, which it can join eventually). The rocky/sandy gravel road that continues from Ironcliffe Rd turns into Hales Rd, and is popular with MTBs. There are small trees down, and some landslides, so it is passable only by 4WDs.
