Importing an existing address book
You can import your address book directly into your ekit
Address Book.
To import your address book:
- In the top navigation menu, click Messages.
* The 'Inbox' page will open.
- In the top navigation, select Messages and then click Address book in the drop down menu.
* The 'Address book' page will open.
- Click Import existing Address Book.
- Choose the email program you want to import your address book from.
- Click Continue.
- Follow the instructions to export your address book as a .CSV file from:
- Select what you would like to do with duplicate entries.
- In the File to Import section, enter the file path and name or click Browse
to find it in your system.
- Click Continue to import.
Import Microsoft Outlook to ekit Address Book
To copy contact details from Microsoft Outlook to the ekit
Address Book:
- Open Microsoft Outlook.
- Click Contacts on the Outlook Bar
- From the File menu, select Import and Export.
* The Import and Export Wizard opens
- Select 'Export to File', click Next.
- Select 'Contacts', click Next.
- Select 'Comma Separated Values (Windows)' and click Next.
- Click Browse to select the location you want to save the file in and
enter a name for the file. For example, Address book.
- Click Next.
* The 'Export to a File' window has 'Export "Contacts" from the
"Contacts" folder' highlighted
- Click Finish.
The file must follow the format: Full Name, Email Address, Street Address,
Suburb, Post Code, State/Region, Country, Home Phone, Work Phone,
Description. You do not need to have information entered in every category.
The CSV file generated in the process above is now ready to be imported into
the ekit Address Book.
A nickname will be created using the full name and email address of the
contact you importif any of that information is missing the ekit Address
Book will reject that persons details and they will not be added.
Note:
The ekit Address Book can only import
data which Outlook places in the CSV file. Some of your data may be excluded
if Outlook does not place it in the CSV file. Outlook 97 may export different
fields than Outlook 98.
Import Microsoft Outlook 2000 to ekit Address Book
To copy contact details from Microsoft Outlook 2000 to the ekit
Address Book:
- Open Microsoft Outlook 2000.
- From the File menu, select Import and Export Wizard.
* The Import and Export Wizard opens.
- Select 'Export to File' and click Next.
* The Export to a File window opens.
- Select 'Comma Separated Values (Windows)' and click Next.
- Select 'Contacts' and click Next.
- Click Browse.
- Select the location you want to save the file in and
enter a name for the file. For example, Address book.
- Click OK.
* The CSV Export window reopens with the file name and the path entered.
- Click Next.
* The Export to a File window reopens with 'Export "Contacts" from the
"Contacts" folder' selected.
- Click Finish.
The CSV file generated in the process above is now ready to be imported into
the ekit Address Book.
Import Microsoft Outlook Express to ekit Address Book
To copy contact details from Microsoft Outlook Express to the ekit Address Book:
- Open Outlook Express.
- Select Export from the File menu.
- From the file type ‘Text File (Comma Seperated Values)’.
- Click Export.
- Enter a file location where the file will be saved and enter a name for
the file.
* The file name should end in ‘.csv’.
- Click Next.
* A window appears that lets you select the fields you wish to export.
Some fields are automatically selected. Do not change the selections.
- Click Finish to export the data to the Comma Seperated Values (.cs)
file at the location you specified.
The .CSV file generated in the process above is now ready to be imported
into the ekit Address Book.
Note:
The ekit Address Book can only import data
which Outlook Express places in the CSV file. Some of your data may be excluded
if Outlook Express does not place it in the CSV file.

Import Palm Desktop, or a program that has similarly ordered
address book attributes to ekit Address Book:
To copy contact details from Palm Desktop to the ekit Address
Book
- Open Palm Desktop
- Open the Address View by clicking the Addresses icon to the left of the
window.
* The 'Export to File' window opens.
- Enter a name for the file in the 'File name' field, for example, Address
book.
- From the list of 'Folders', select the location you want to save the file
in.
- From the Export as' drop down list, select 'Comma Separated (*.csv,
*.txt)'.
- From the 'Range' options, choose 'All'.
- Click Export.
* A 'Specify Export Fields' window opens.
(The file must follow the format: Last Name, First Name, Work, Home, Email, Address, Town, State, Country. You do not need to have information entered in every
category.)
- Click Ok.
* A window opens that tells you that the export process has completed.
The CSV file generated in the process above is now ready to be imported into
the ekit Address Book.
A nickname will be created using the full name and email address of the
contact you importif any of that information is missing the ekit Address
Book will reject that persons details and they will not be added.
